Well… I probably should have started these kind of posts 4 days ago, but I think I’m still lost in a daze or at least sleep walking thru life at the moment. .
This past Sunday a friend of ours posted a picture and a story on her Facebook page. Bill and Jeanne - They live out in the country in North Georgia.. and someone dropped off 6 black lab pups at the bottom of their road.. and they managed their way up their hill and onto my friends back porch. She posted the first picture below - and Dale first woke me up to tell me what happened,, and then 10 mins later told me he was heading up to get one of them!! UGH !!!! So now we have a "new baby" in the house...
Morgan, our other puppy – 3 yr old whippet looking type pup - is doing surprisingly well. She nips at the pup when she thinks he is hurting one of us when we are playing. Morgan also taught the pup how to bark...which is funny. Sometimes Morgan is tolerable and wants to play, and other times she runs onto higher ground for a break!! LOL
Tigger, our 5 yr old cat - on the other hand is PISSED! The first night he stayed under the kitchen table and just growled and would hiss anytime any of use, even me, walked passed him. He is getting better... but is still growling when the puppy comes by. I guess he's figured out the pup isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The pup tends to curl up under my desk when he's tuckered out, and Tigger has started to inch his way over to behind my desk, lay down, and still growls to let the pooch know that he's the one still in charge. I know it will take time to get used to the new pup. He did the same thing with Morgan and now they are the best of friends.
Dale named the pup Diablo..but so far we've been nicknaming him D2 for short!! ( Dale 1.. Diablo 2.. ) Morning are still stressful and a three ring circus. We keep the pup locked up in our bathroom at night and during the day behind a baby gate with plenty of chew things and a small crate with the door off so he has a "cave"/"den" to sleep in and feel safe in.
He also has worms - or at least had two worms in what I think was vomit - the other day ( sorry for the details ). So we have to get him to the vet for shots and things ( no such thing as a free pet...right? )
So this is the new addition to our family. Bill and Jeanne kept two of them for themself. Of the 6 - two boys, 4 girls, we have one of the brothers, Bill and Jeanne kept the other brother and one of the girls, and Jeanne found homes for the other three girls... :)
Meet Diablo !!
